He is invoked for enlightenment and divine inspiration and spiritual transcendancy. One of the chief protectors and the oldest of the “mahakalas”, he is sometimes called Nagkpo Chenpo or The Great Black One, Yeshe Gonpo or the Wisdom Protector, and is sometimes called the grandfather of the protectors because of his age, wisdom, and ability to correct a devotee doing something naughty without causing total destruction.
