Description:
Yerba Santa is a short evergreen shrub, belonging to the Hydrophyllaceae family. The stem is smooth and exudes a gummy substance. The dark green glutinous leaves are placed alternately on the stem and are coated with a resinous substance, making them appear as if varnished. The pale blue flowers are borne in clustered groups at the top of the plant. It's odor is aromatic and the taste balsamic and sweetish.
