Description:
Wormwood is a herbaceous perennial, belonging to the Compositae (Asteraceae) family. It is a shrubby plant supported by a woody rootstock, producing many bushy stems that are whitish and covered closely with fine silky hairs. Its leaves are hairy and of irregular symmetry, and flowers are small with globular heads of greenish yellow. The leaves and the flowers have a very bitter taste and characteristic odor.

Culinary Uses:
Wormwood can be added to stuffing for goose and other poultry as well as fish. Wormwood was once used in the production of Absinthe, a liqueur, and some home brewers still add it to mead (honey wine).

Medicinal Uses:
Wormwood helps increase secretions of the liver and gall bladder. During childbirth it is used for pain used against roundworms and threadworms

POISON. Wormwood should be used with caution. Avoid excessive or long-term use. Should not be used during pregnancy.
