Description:
Thyme is an aromatic perennial shrub, belonging to the Labiateae (Lamiaceae) family. It has a woody fibrous root and numerous round hard branched stems. The leaves are small and greenish-grey in color, and small clusters of bluish-purple flowers appear at the ends of the stems. The plant has an agreeable aromatic smell and is often used in bath mixtures and sachets.

Culinary Uses:
Thyme is often included in seasoning blends for poultry and stuffing. It is also a common ingredient used in fish sauces, chowders, and soups. It goes well with lamb and veal as well as eggs, custards, and croquettes. Thyme often is paired with tomatoes.
To make a tea, pour 1 cup boiling water over 1 teaspoon of Thyme Leaf, cover and steep 10 minutes.

Thyme is known as a powerful antiseptic and a general tonic, with healing powers. It helps with cases of anemia, bronchial and intestinal disturbances. It is nn excellent mouthwash and gargle due to it's antiseptic action.
