Culinary Uses: To make a tea, pour one cup of boiling water over one to two teaspoons of Malva Leaf, cover and steep for ten to fifteen minutes.
Medicinal Uses: Malva is useful to help rid the lungs and respiratory tract of excess fluid and mucus, while at the same time, it helps to soothe irritation and inflammation of the mucous membranes. It also helps with asthma, laryngitis, bronchitis, sore throat or dry, hacking cough. Malva Leaf is good for sensitive areas of the skin when it is applied as a poultice to reduce swelling and draw out toxins. Taken internally, the leaves reduce gut irritation and have a laxative effect.
