Description:
Malva, known as Common Mallow, is a leafy biennial-perennial belonging to the Malvaceae family. It has a slightly woody, round branched stem with alternate, long-petioled leaves, and bright mauve-purple flowers with dark veins clustered in the leaf axils.

Culinary Uses:
To make a tea, pour one cup of boiling water over one to two teaspoons of Malva Flowers, cover and steep for ten to fifteen minutes.

Medicinal Uses:
Malva is useful to help rid the lungs and respiratory tract of excess fluid and mucus, while at the same time, it helps to soothe irritation and inflammation of the mucous membranes. It also helps with asthma, laryngitis, bronchitis, sore throat or dry, hacking cough.

Precautions and Adverse Reactions:
Avoid Malva if you have gallstones.
