Description:
The Lemon is a small, straggling tree belonging to the Rutaceae family. It is an irregularly branched tree with the bark varying in color from grey on the trunk to a purplish color on the twigs. The evergreen leaves are pale green, and the singly arranged flowers are white suffused with deep pink outside. The fruit is bright yellow when ripe and the rind (peel) is somewhat rough to almost smooth on the outside and white and spongy inside, The peel is used as a scent, a flavoring, and providing vitamin C.
