Culinary Uses: Hyssop is used to flavor teas, tonics, non-alcoholic beverages, vegetable dishes, soups, salads, sauces, pickles, meats, and candied products. Use sparingly as the flavor is strong. To make a tea, pour 1 cup boiling water over 1 teaspoon of Hyssop Herb, cover and steep 3-5 minutes.
Medicinal Uses: Hyssop helps with afflictions of the respiratory system and is used for coughs, sore throats, asthma, bronchitis and chronic catarrh. As a nervine, Hyssop may be used in anxiety states. It is known to improve circulation and stabilize the blood pressure. It has been used to inhibit the growth of the herpes simplex virus. xternally, Hyssop has been applied to wounds to aid in healing.
