Description:
Gum Arabic powder is made from the hardened sap tears from the trunk and branches of Acacia Senegal tree, a member of the Leguminosae (Fabaceae) family. Gum arabic is a complex mixture of saccharides and glycoproteins, It is perfectly edible and is used as a food additive in baking and cooking. It is also used in crafts, and cosmetics.

Gum Arabic Powder is widely used in the food industry, as an emulsifier, thickener, flavour encapsulator and thickening agent. It is used primarily in the confectionary industry to inhibit sugar crystallization, as a thickener, stabilizer and flavor emulsifier.

Medicinal Uses:
Arabic Gum is used for soothing mucous membranes of the intestine and to treat inflammed skin. It is also reportedly used as for its astringent properties, to treat bleeding, bronchitis, diarrhea, gonorrhea, leprosy, typhoid fever and upper respiratory tract infections.

Precautions and Adverse Reactions:
Ingestion of Arabic Gum powder may raise serum cholesterol. Some forms of acacia gum can cause allergic reactions, including respiratory problems and skin lesions.
