Description:
Gravel Root is a member the Compositae (Asteraceae) family. It is a tall plant with a rigidly erect and hollow stem, and is purple above the joints and often covered with elongated spots. Its leaves are oblong, pointed and downy beneath, and the flowers are in numerous clumps of light purple.

It is especially valuable as a diuretic and stimulant as well as an astringent tonic, and is considered a valuable remedy in dropsy, strangury, gravel, hematuria, gout and rheumatism, exerting a special influence upon chronic renal and cystic troubles. Gravelroot helps soothe irritated mucus membranes of the urinary tract and aids the kidneys in the removal of wastes. It helps to clear heat and reduce inflammation.
