Description:
Kirin Ginseng is a member of the Araliaceae family, and a close relative of White American Ginseng (Panax Quinquefolia). It is a Chinese perennial herb, distinguished by its dark green leaves, smooth round stem bearing three to five thin leaves, cluster bright of red berries, and large translucent pale yellow-brown colored, fleshy root with some small rootlets existing upon the lower portion. According to traditional Chinese medicine’s philosphy of opposites, White American Ginseng is a 'cool' or 'yin' Ginseng used to treat hot symptoms such as stress, insomnia, palpitations, and headache, whereas Asian Panax Ginseng is 'hot' or 'yang' Ginseng and is used to treat cold diseases. Kirin Ginseng is considered to be the most 'stimulating' member of the Ginseng family.

Culinary Uses:
Ginseng Roots are cooked into soups and grains. Ginseng is also added to candies, soda and liqueurs.
To make tea, place the Ginseng Root into 1 quart of water in a not metal cooking container and cover. Place this container into another pot that is also filled with water, and boil the root slowly for 2 to 3 hours, until the water in the outer ginseng pot has been reduced by half. Strain and drink immediately. The will lose its potency if stored for more than a day.

Medicinal Uses:
Ginseng is nutritionally beneficial for the immune system and long term energy. The dried root is used for healing purposes. It has been used along with other herbs in treating a variety of illnesses, including cancers, digestive troubles, and memory. It nourishes the circulatory system and enhances mental alertness and stamina.
