Culinary Uses: To make a tea, pour 1 cup boiling water over 1 teaspoon of Elecampane Root, cover and steep 3-5 minutes.
Medicinal Uses: Elecampane Root is a natural expectorant and nourishes the respiratory system. It is aslo used for intestinal worms, water retention, and to lessen tooth decay .Externally, Elecampane Root can be used as a wash for wounds and itching rashes. It is also burned to repel insects.
Precautions and Adverse Reactions: Elecampane should not be used during pregnancy or while nursing. Large doses may cause vomiting, diarrhea, spasms, and symptoms of paralysis.
