Description:
Dill is a herbaceous short-lived annual herb belonging to the Umbelliferae (Apiaceae) family and is grown for its aromatic thread like edible leaves and warm and pungent seeds. Dill contains two essential oils, limonene and carvone, from which the leaves and seeds get their slightly bitter, pungent flavor and aroma The Dill weed is more delicately flavored than the seed from the same plant.

Culinary Uses:
Dill Seeds can be used to flavor pickles, vegetables, breads and pastries, soups, sauces and gravies. They are also added to German, Russian, and Scandinavian dishes. Dill Seeds can be chewed and swallowed for a breath freshener.
To make a tea, steep 2 teaspoons of crushed seeds in 1 cup of boiling water for 10 to 15 minutes.

Dill is used to treat colic, gas, and indigestion.
