Culinary Uses: The roasted roots are largely used to form Dandelion Coffee. To make a tea, add 2 teaspoons of raw Dandelion Root to a tea infuser and place in a tea cup. Pour boiling water over infuser, cover, and steep for 3-5 minutes.
Medicinal Uses: Dandelion is a general stimulant to the system, but especially to the urinary organs, and is chiefly used in kidney and liver disorders. It will also promote healthy circulation. The root is used as an antifungal, and mild laxative. Dandelion root has been used to purify the blood, and to benefit the circulatory and glandular systems. It increases the flow of urine and is useful in all kinds of kidney, liver spleen and pancreas ailments.
Precautions and Adverse Reactions: Contraindicated in blockage of the bile ducts, acute gallbaldder inflammation, and intestinal blockage.
