Dandelion is a herbaceous perennial belonging to the Compositae (Asteraceae) family and is closely related to Chicory. It has a rosette of jagged, irregularly lobed leaves produced from a long, thick, fleshy taproot, and bears a head of tiny bright golden yellow flowers. Dandelions contain calcium, magnesium, potassium, vitamins A & E, taraxacin, taraxacerin, inulin, gum, and gluten.

The roasted roots are largely used to form Dandelion Coffee.
To make a tea, add 2 teaspoons of raw Dandelion Root to a tea infuser and place in a tea cup. Pour boiling water over infuser, cover, and steep for 3-5 minutes.
Dandelion is a general stimulant to the system, but especially to the urinary organs, and is chiefly used in kidney and liver disorders. It will also promote healthy circulation. The root is used as an antifungal, and mild laxative. Dandelion root has been used to purify the blood, and to benefit the circulatory and glandular systems.
