Description:
Dandelion is a herbaceous perennial belonging to the Compositae (Asteraceae) family and is closely related to Chicory. It has a rosette of jagged, irregularly lobed leaves produced from a long, thick, fleshy taproot, and bears a head of tiny bright golden yellow flowers. Dandelions contain calcium, magnesium, potassium, vitamins A & E, taraxacin, taraxacerin, inulin, gum, and gluten.

Culinary Uses:
Dried Dandelion Leaf is an ingredient in many digestive or diet drinks and herb beers.
To make a tea, add 1 teaspoon of Dandelion Leaf to a tea infuser and place in a tea cup. Pour boiling water over infuser, cover, and steep for 3-5 minutes.

Medicinal Uses:
Dandelion leaves are a diuretic and hypotensive. Dandelion is a general stimulant to the system, but especially to the urinary organs, and is chiefly used in kidney and liver disorders. It will also promote healthy circulation, and aids in eliminating poisons from the body. Dandelion Leaf is high in vitamin and mineral contents and helps to ward off anemia.

Precautions and Adverse Reactions:
Contraindicated in blockage of the bile ducts, acute gallbaldder inflammation, and intestinal blockage.
