The root is thick and fleshy and the stem is slender, round and slightly hairy. The fresh plant has an unpleasant, acrid odor, but in a dried state it is odorless. It has a persistent acrid and somewhat salty taste.

Medicinal Uses: Celandine calms the stomach and the inflamed gallbladder and bilary duct. It is also useful for hepatitis, jaundice, and cirrhosis (for cirrhosis use in combination with Milk Thistle). Fresh juice is applied to warts, ringworm, eczema and corns.
Precautions and Adverse Reactions: Celandine is not recommended for prolonged usage. Celandine is not to be used during pregnancy and not to be used by children.
