Culinary Uses: Anise Seed is used extensively to flavor liquors, baked goods, fruit dishes, and meats. Anise Seed also makes a wonderful addition to teas. To make a tea, crush 1 tablespoon of dried Anise Seeds, and add to 2 cups of boiling water, reduce the temperature and simmer gently for 5 to 10 minutes, and quickly strain the tea.
Medicinal Uses: Anise Seed has warming and stimulating actions and is useful for circulation and digestive disorders. The seeds are used in cough medicine, as it aids in loosening phlegm. It is the mildest of the herbs used for these purposes.
Precautions and Adverse Reactions: Anise Seed is not recommended to be used during pregnancy or nursing.
