Bloodroot is a small perennial plant, about 6 inches high, found in shaded, rich soils in the northeastern states of the United States. The thick rootstock from the plant contains a red juice when fresh. When dried the root is yellow on the inside and brown on the outside. The part of the plant that is used is the root system.
Bloodroot has been used as a diuretic, emetic, emmenagogue, expectorant, febrifuge, stimulant, and tonic. Bloodroot has long been known and used for its strong medicinal properties. Due to bloodroot's curative action in treating a wide variety of skin disorders, it has been used in numerous topical preparations for the treatment of various skin cancers, and also for sores, warts, eczema, and other dermal & epidermal problems.
Bloodroot's affect on ordinary moles and warts is well-documented. Having
first verified with your medical practitioner that your skin growth is benign,
you can prepare a special bloodroot paste which can be self-administered to
successfully treat these skin conditions by using the following method:
Mix a small amount of water to the bloodroot powder
so that you have a paste like consistency. Using your finger, apply enough of
the paste to cover the wart or mole that you want to treat. Make sure that the
area is covered well. Apply a bandage over the area to insure that the paste
will not be wiped off. Every two days, remove the bandage, apply fresh paste,
and place a new bandage back on. The purpose of new, fresh application is to
ensure that there is a sufficient concentration of the alkaloids in the bloodroot
working on the target growth. Complete this cycle of applications until the
wart or mole has receded to the same level as the surrounding skin. When you
pass your hand over the area, you should not feel any protruding skin growth
of any kind. The time frame of this process varies from person to person. Generally,
you will begin to see the results within the first week. Rarely does it take
longer than a month for the entire process to take its course.
Disclaimer: We would like to remind you that although bloodroot paste is designed for
self-administration, is not a replacement for timely, competent medical advice and/or attention.
We highly recommend that prior to usage, the user see a licensed dermatologist and obtain
a biopsy or other diagnosis of the suspected growth, particularly if it is growing in size
or changing color. Legally, Dragon Herbarium cannot make any claims as to the
